Simple DIY Sugar Body Scrub

Over the holidays I saw quite a few DIY Body Scrub posts as ideas for gifts. I never got around to making one for a gift but decided to give it a try as a treat to myself. I took the main ingredients  from a number of different recipes to come up with my own extra-lazy version! Here it is...

You will only need three simple ingredients:

1. Lavender essential oil // 1/2 TBS - You can use any essential oil you like depending on what you what your body scribe to smell like. I used a half tablespoon but you can use as little or as much as you like depending on how strong you want the scent to be.

2. Extra Virgin Olive Oil // 80 ml - Again, you can use any type of oil you like. Regarding the amount, it is best for you to gauge how much to use. I just decided how much to use based on how it felt on my skin and used about 80 ml.

3. Unrefined Raw Cane Sugar // 120g - I chose cane sugar because it isn't too harsh on the skin as the particles are quite small. If you can, buy Fairtrade Sugar!

Simply mix all the ingredients in a bowl and you're done! The container I used was leftover from my Body Shop Shea Butter & Sesame Oil Lotion but you can buy a similar container online.

For my first attempt at a DIY Body Scrub I was quite impressed by it! I have used it a few times now and it feels great on my skin. I use it mainly on really dry areas as the olive oil really helps moisturise the skin. All in all, I am quite happy with it!

Have you ever tried a DIY Body Scrub?
